The Behtar Bachpan Initiative (BBI) is committed to strengthening the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) and their well-being from environmental pollution risks. The initiative addresses the heightened risks faced by mothers and young children in vulnerable communities, where exposure to polluted air, water, and surroundings directly affects health and development.
Behtar Bachpan Initiative focuses on assessing environmental pollution risks and the associated maternal and child health risks. It is also designed to implement measures to address groundwater contamination and strengthen community resilience by promoting safe potable water and healthy spaces, ensuring long-term preventive health benefits for families.
Community empowerment is a core pillar of this initiative where local women and Self-Help Group (SHG) members are trained as environmental health champions, leading awareness campaigns, educating families on preventive practices, and helping communities adopt behaviors that reduce exposure risks.
By combining risk evaluation, preventive action, and community-led solutions, Behtar Bachpan Initiative supports healthier outcomes for mothers and children. It works to ensure that families are informed, equipped, and empowered to protect their health against environmental hazards. We have initiated the activities of BBI in the locations of Punjab and Delhi – NCR which will be expanded to further locations in the later phases.
